Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 July 2026

Yellow Pineapples makes gentle stories and tools for children — and we take looking after your information as seriously as we take looking after young readers. This policy explains, in plain words, what we collect, why, and the choices you have. If anything here isn't clear, please get in touch and we'll explain it properly.

A note for grown-ups and children. This website is meant for grown-ups to explore, buy books, and download our free journal. We ask that a parent or guardian handles anything that involves giving us details, such as joining our newsletter. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.

Who we are

Yellow Pineapples is the children's imprint behind The Most Anxious Dog in the World and Kai's One Small Step Journal, created by Melanie Ross. For the purposes of data protection law, the "data controller" responsible for your information is Yellow Pineapples.

To confirm before this is final: the exact legal entity and registered address that should appear here (Yellow Pineapples as a sole trader in your name, or another registered company). I've left it as "Yellow Pineapples" rather than assume it sits under Walk Digital Ltd.

What we collect, and why

We only collect what we genuinely need, and only when you choose to give it:

We do not run adverts, we do not profile or track children, and we do not sell or rent your information to anyone. Ever.

Cookies and tracking

This is a deliberately simple, calm website. It does not set advertising or tracking cookies. If we ever add anything that stores information on your device, we'll ask you first and update this page.

To confirm: that the newsletter sign-up tool and the free-journal download stay tracking-free. If a mailing provider (for example, the one already connected to the domain) adds its own cookies or analytics, we'll list them here.

Who we share it with

To run the website and send the newsletter, we use trusted service providers who act only on our instructions and are bound to protect your data:

We may also share information if the law requires it. Where a provider stores data, we choose providers that meet UK/EU data-protection standards.

How long we keep it

We keep newsletter details until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove them. We keep emails you send us only as long as we need them to help you.

Children's privacy

We follow the UK's Age Appropriate Design Code (the "Children's Code") and the parts of data-protection law that give children extra protection. We design our site to be safe and low-data, we don't target advertising at children, and we ask that a parent or guardian gives any consent on a child's behalf. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to:

Just email us and we'll sort it out, normally within a week. You also have the right to complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Changes to this policy

We'll keep this policy up to date and post any changes here, with a fresh "last updated" date.

Contact us

For anything about your privacy or your information, email us at hello@yellowpineapples.com.

To confirm: the best contact email address to publish for Yellow Pineapples (I've used hello@yellowpineapples.com as a sensible placeholder), and whether to add a postal address.
